First Time?

Let us help to put your mind at ease with these some tips that are sure to help your first tattoo experience go smoothly.

Don’t rush. The design is quite possibly the most important step. If you’re not sure that you’re 100% happy with how the preliminary sketches look, talk to your artist about it. They can adjust the drawing and answer your questions. Research design ideas ahead of time and come in with as much reference material necessary to deliver an articulate description for your tattoo. We will use your base description as a guideline to create a custom piece of art just for you. If you are considering a portrait, it’s best to supply a large (preferably 8x10) clear image to work from so the detail can be captured as much as possible.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, questions, and more questions. We will answer every single one and take the time to make sure you’re comfortable before we start the process with you.

Consider placement. Your first tattoo is a special experience in and of itself, you may not want to choose something really huge or extremely visible (such as your face/neck/hands) for your first one. First of all, it’s a big commitment and it could make it difficult to get employment depending upon your field.

This is the perfect shop for anyone who is getting a tattoo for the first time. If you are nervous we will help put your mind at ease by answering any questions you may have, we will also make suggestions to help you make the best decision possible. We have created a very comfortable atmosphere with beautiful works of art all over our walls that people of all styles can appreciate. We also cater to people of all ages, whether you're a 18 getting your first tattoo or 50 getting your first tattoo, we take pride in being very friendly and non intimidating. We promise the best tattoo experience you will ever have.

Common Questions

Are Tattoos Safe?

Yes, as long as you go to a reputable artist that is following all recommended safety precautions.

Does it hurt?

Pain is really relative. Everyone has a different tolerance to pain. we're not going to kid you, though - it does hurt. Just not that much. Some have compared it to a "hot scratching feeling". But, people would not be returning again and again for tattoo after tattoo if it hurt that bad! Most of us are not into pain, but the beauty of the tattoo and the pride associated with wearing it far outweighs a little pin-stick here and there.

How much is it going to cost?

When it comes to tattoos, you get what you pay for. Yes, there are plenty of people tattooing out there that will ink you cheap, and you'll be crying to a real artist to have it covered up. Look for quality, and be willing to pay for it. NEVER haggle over the price of a tattoo. It is disrespectful to the artist. If you can't pay for quality, don't bother. This is not a bargain bin. It is a piece of art you will wear for life.

Is it OK to lay out in the sun or go to the tanning bed when you have tattoos?

It might be really tempting to get some rays during the summer months, but before you ruin your tattoo, please ask us about Tattoos and Tanning.

Is it OK to get a tattoo if I'm sick?

Getting a tattoo when your immune system isn't at 100% isn't a good idea. You're going to need your strength and your white blood cells to heal your tattoo, something your body won't be able to do if it's already doing battle against virus and bacteria. Not to mention the fact that it's very inconsiderate to bring your illness into the tattoo studio and risk passing the germs onto others, particularly your artist. If you have an appointment, call and reschedule for when you're feeling well again.

What is the proper After Care and Healing Process?

Leave That Bandage Alone! Your artist took the care to cover up your new tattoo for a very good reason - to keep air-born bacteria from invading your wound. Yes, as pretty as your new tattoo is, it is still a wound. Open flesh is a breeding ground for bacteria and infection. Leave the bandage on for a minimum of two hours. After you remove the bandage, you will want to wash your tattoo. Use lukewarm water and mild, liquid antibacterial or antimicrobial soap to gently wash away any ointment, blood and/or plasma and to completely clean the area. Do not use a washcloth or anything abrasive Your hand is your best tool in this case. Follow with a very light application of your choice of ointment. A&D vitamin enriched ointment would be a best choice, but if you don't have any, Bacitracin or a similar antibacterial ointment is acceptable. **Do not use Neosporin. continue for 3-5 days. After that, continue to keep it clean, but you can use lotion when needed instead of ointment, to keep the skin soft. Whatever lotion you use, it should be dye and fragrance free. After a few days, you will notice some peeling and possibly a little scabbing. Excessive scabbing could indicate a poorly-done tattoo, but a little is sometimes normal and there is no need to panic. Apply warm moist compresses to the scabs for about 5 minutes 2-3 times a day to soften them and they will eventually come off on their own. (Do not apply ointment or lotion to a softened scab - wait for it to dry) You will also start to itch, just like a sunburn when it begins to heal. The advice here is, don't pick, and don't scratch! If the skin itches, slap it. If it is peeling, put lotion on it. And if it is scabbing, just leave it alone. Your tattoo is almost healed, and now is not the time to ruin it! After your tattoo is healed, from now on, you will always want to protect it from the sun's ultraviolet rays. These can fade and damage a brilliant tattoo very fast. Before spending a lot of time in excessive heat, protect your tattoo with a minimum 30SPF sunblock. This will keep your tattoo vibrant for many years, and it will continue to be a source of great pride.
